My Self Care Loves
I’ve come to realize that I get burnt out pretty easily. I’m not sure why, but by the end of the week I just want to throw myself in a corner and be left alone. I’m always on the go so I think it’s because I don’t really give my body enough time to slow down. This weekend I want to spend real time taking care of myself so that once Monday comes back I don’t want to throw my phone across the room when my alarm goes off. If your mind runs a mile a minute like mine, join me in escaping from the world with these few things.
Take a bath.
Baths are one of my favorite things. Add in some bubbles and I’m game. There’s something about soaking to some candles and reading that allows me to slow down and enjoy the moment. Sometimes I do make the water too hot so I’ll be sweating but this weekend I’ll try not to scald myself like usual.
Paint your nails.
Painting my nails makes me feel like a bad bitch. Like I have my life semi together. I’m feeling a nice, neutral gray color and if I’m feeling ambitious I’ll throw in a little design. Shout out to Sally Hansen’s insta-dry because of my little to no patience to allow my nails to dry. If gel polish wasn’t such a hassle to remove I’d buy my own UV light since it dries it in about a minute.
Read a book.
I’ve been wanting to sit down a read a book for such a long time now. At work when I have slow moments I’d love to bust out a book but I’m sure my supervisor wouldn’t appreciate that. I’ve been trying so hard to get through a particular book but I think I need to cut my losses and start a new one. I have two graphic novels on my to-read list and I think I’ll start one of those. If you have any recommendations, throw them my way.
Use a face mask.
My coworker vacationed in South Korea recently and brought back face masks. Now we know that K Beauty has taken over the world so I was ecstatic. Apparently snail goo is all the rage now and despite me thinking that’s gross I tried it and my face felt amazing. I have one more and my pores are ready to soak up as much snail goo as possible.
Watch a movie.
Watching a good movie always puts me in a good mood. There are a few classics that I always turn to when I need a pick me up. I’ve been so satisfied all through October because The Nightmare Before Christmas has played several times a week. People love to act like Thanksgiving doesn’t exist so they skip right to Christmas but that movie can be watched for both holidays so I shall be watching it until December 31st. Fantastic Mr. Fox is also one of my faves and thank god for on demand because it shall be on all weekend.
