Why I Chose Myself

In the last week, I learned that your life can be flipped upside down and you'll have to make hard decisions. For me, I had to decide whether to pursue something for my future or stay where I was because of financial stability.

Money has always been the main driving factor in my life. If I found an opportunity that gave me more money, I was there. I thought that my dreams and goals could be put aside for a bit while I saved money but I quickly realized that this led to myself being unhappy and blocking opportunities.

Recently I had the opportunity to interview for a design internship at an award-winning agency. Sounds like a dream, right? I was excited to even have the chance to go there and I knew I'd regret it forever if I didn't go. The issue was they needed you to work 10-15 hours per week which would interfere with my job. I then had to decide which was more important; this internship or this job?

In my heart, I knew that I had to do what was best for me so I chose to go to the interview. I had a great time there and I should be hearing back next week to find out if I got it or not. I'm sad to say that I will now have to resign from my job. Thankfully, I have some money saved up so I'll be able to pay my bills for awhile until I find a new one.

One thing I realized was if you ask the universe for something, you will get it. This doesn't mean it'll be the best timing or the best way, but it will come. I have been asking for a few months off for a long time and now I have it. I may have lost something, but I also gained something better.

Always go with your gut. Trust that things will work out. This doesn't mean take a leap if you don't have a little net or support system but if you do, DO IT! You won't regret it. When a door closes, another door opens blah blah blah...
